Yan Sun is Associate Professor and Vice Director of the Social and Economic Behavior Research Centre at the Institute of Psychology (Chinese Academy of Sciences).
Professor Sun received his PhD in Psychology from IPCAS and the University of Trento (Italy). He now serves as a member of China’s National Committee for UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Programme, a special adviser to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (China), a supervisor for PhD candidates at IPCAS and the University of Queensland (Australia), and a Guest Editor or an Editor Board Member for several peer-reviewed journals.
The achievements of Professor Sun include developing the residents’ handbook of water saving to reduce water consumption for the Chinese government, offering solutions for companies or industry bodies to motivate pro-environmental behaviors of target people, and recently revealing how the public understands the risk of climate change in an emotional and automatic way.
A healthy public debate about important societal challenges requires a common and scientifically sound basis.
