Management Board

The Management Board consists of the members of the Metaforum steering committee, namely Tinne De Laet, Pedro Fardim, Thomas Könecke, Lies Langouche, Robin Lemmens (chair), Bart Pattyn, Hilde Peeters and Trui Steen , and two members of the management board of LIAS Foundation, namely Joost Van Meerbeeck and Hilde Debois.
Metaforum

As a platform for interdisciplinary consultation, Metaforum offers LIAS the ideal starting point for initiating scientifically sound discussions with top researchers about problems which will have a substantial impact on the future of our global community.
History

The ambition to establish a Leuven Institute for Advanced Study has been around for quite some time. In 2020, rector Luc Sels and the board of KU Leuven decided to move forward with this ambition. The intention for LIAS is to gather scientific insights concerning major societal challenges on the basis of international and interdisciplinary consultation.
LIAS Foundation

EXC – The aim of the Leuven Institute for Advanced Study is to broaden the scope of a particular reflection, by inviting leading international researchers from different disciplines, who are working on the topic in question, for a remunerated stay in Leuven.

Holland College

The Leuven Institute for Advanced Study (LIAS) hosts international and interdisciplinary collaborations on important societal topics. All LIAS Fellows receive an office at the historical Holland College.
