Assistant Professor in Grass and Forage Science and Programme Director for Sustainable Food Systems in the School of Agriculture and Food Science at University College Dublin
My research remains grounded in my background in grassland science, with a particular interest in the effects of climate change and land use on agricultural landscapes. I lead research focused on increasing the sustainability of grass-based livestock production systems. This includes exploring the potential of multispecies swards, enhancing biodiversity, and developing strategies to improve grassland productivity and quality under reduced inputs and limiting resources. I am also a Funded Investigator in the BiOrbic SFI Bioeconomy Research Centre and oversee the grassland management at UCD Lyons Research and Education Farm which facilitates both component and systems-level research, as well national and international collaborative opportunities.

For complex challenges an interdisciplinary synthesis can be more important and more relevant than technical and disciplinary expertise. Global problems require an international synthesis.
