Criminology, KU Leuven
Maria Eleni Pantazi Psatha is a PhD Candidate in the Law and Criminology Department of KU Leuven. Her research explores the nexus between environmental change and migration under international law. The aim of this project is to enrich the understanding of environmental migration and reconstruct the undertheorized concept of this notion, in order to develop new avenues for effectively protecting climate migrants.
She has a background in international relations, focusing on European Law. She worked as a researcher in various organizations (for instance, in IEMed for the Euromesco Project) and the European Policy Centre (EPC) in Brussels. Her recent policy paper with Prof. Emmanuella Doussis, focused on the nexus between climate change and migration, from a policy perspective.
The intention is to gather scientific insights about major societal challenges in LIAS on the basis of international and interdisciplinary consultation.
