Patrick Cloos is currently Associate Professor at Université de Montréal (Canada). His background is in medicine, public health and social sciences.
Professor Cloos has practiced medicine in various countries and regions including Belgium, Africa, The Caribbean, and Asia. His current research interest is in the domain of anthropology of health in the context of immigration and ageing.
Cloos has published on ageing and health in the Caribbean, including recently an article on the medicalization of ageing and dementia, grounded in his international and interdisciplinary perspective and personal experience.
For complex challenges an interdisciplinary synthesis can be more important and more relevant than technical and disciplinary expertise. Global problems require an international synthesis.
